How to Donate

The Sunshine Coast Community Foundation accepts donations from all individuals, groups and corporations, at any time and in any amount.   The larger the pool of capital, the more income can be earned and the more good can be done in our community by way of grants.  For this reason, the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation has a number of ways for individuals, families, organizations, private foundations and businesses to contribute to this pool.

Gifts may be made in the form of cash, credit cards, pledges over a number of years, securities, bonds, property, bequests, life insurance, memorial grants, transfer of an existing trust fund or the establishment of an endowment fund by a charitable organization (see Planned Giving).  You may even choose to contribute to an endowment fund already held with the Foundation.  Charitable tax receipts are issued for all gifts.

Privacy policy – The Sunshine Coast Community Foundation is committed to maintaining the security, confidentiality and privacy of your personal information. Your personal information gathered will be used only to report your donation as required by law, and to contact you regarding future campaigns and special events.

Two Ways to Donate

A donor can either make a general contribution (large or small) to our Community Legacy Fund or any of our established funds (see Our Endowment Funds to Date), or establish a distinct endowment gift (Named Fund).

(2) Endowment Gifts (Named Fund) - Gifts to Last Forever

An endowment gift is an ideal way to leave a lasting legacy.  You can support the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation in our mission to improve the quality of life, in a variety of interest areas, for those living in our community and at the same time create a permanent tribute in your name or the name of someone you wish to honor.

You may designate your gift to fund a specific general area of interest such as:
  •            Arts, Culture & Heritage

  •            Children, Youth, Seniors & Family

  •            Environment

  •            Education

  •            Health

  •            Social Development/Planning

  •            Sports & Recreation

Or to a more specific interest within these general areas, or any other specific interest approved by the Foundation.

The amount in the endowment can be increased at any time by additional donations from you or others.

A Named Fund (either designated or undesignated) requires a minimum contribution of $5,000 that can be established over a five-year period.  Endowments may be funded using cash, securities, or other types of assets.  An endowment can be created during your lifetime, or can be arranged through instructions in your will, or a combination.

When you set up a Named Fund, the original donation amount can be preserved forever.  Earnings from the endowment fund are used for the purposes you choose and are specified in a formal endowment agreement.

How does it work?

Funds in the stewardship of the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation are held in perpetuity – the earnings from investments are distributed as grants to existing charitable organizations operating within the geographical area of the Sunshine Coast.  The permanent endowments ensure that the donors’ funds will continue to respond to the charitable needs of our community for generations to come.
