Many organizations in our community are struggling. They have had to close their doors or drastically alter the way they serve the community. Many have had to cancel fundraising activities or refund membership fees. Their continued survival or their ability to provide the same or higher levels of service is in jeopardy.
Since launching the Sunshine Coast COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund in mid-April 2020, the Sunshine Coast Foundation has awarded the following grants to local organizations dealing with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing restrictions:
Arrowhead Clubhouse Society $5,000
Vaucroft Improvement District (Thormanby Island) $500
Sunshine Coast Marine Rescue Society (RCMSAR Station 12 Halfmoon Bay) $3,500
Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch $5,000
Roberts Creek Childcare Society (for One Straw Society) $5,000
Pender Harbour Community Improvement Foundation (for Royal Canadian Legion #112) $2,500
Gibsons Family Network Sunshine Shack $1,500
Gibsons Public Art Gallery $5,000
Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society $1,108.00
Canadian Council for the Blind BC-Yukon Division for Sunshine Coast White Cane Chapter $750.00
Special Olympics British Columbia for Special Olympics BC Sunshine Coast $3,000.00
Sunshine Coast Hospice Society $5,000.00
The total awarded so far is more than $119,000. The Foundation is processing applications to this fund and making new grant awards weekly. Check back often to see the latest grant recipients.
